One Day Training: Awareness and Good Practice when working with women experiencing violence and abuse in relationships
Date: 19th May 2010
Venue: Central London
This training will equip participants with an understanding of the issues for women experiencing violence from men they know, the pressures on women to stay in violent relationships and the impact on children witnessing and experiencing domestic abuse.
The programme is designed to give participants an appreciation of the barriers experienced by abused women, which might prevent them from seeking and securing the help they need.
The day is aimed at staff in any agency who may be called upon to support, advise, treat, or otherwise assist a woman experiencing violence from a man she knows.
If you would like to book a place or find out more information about the training and costs, please contact Susie McDonald at Tender Susie@tender.org.uk; 0207 431 7227

An Independent Evaluation of the TRUST Education Project:
For the summary of the report click here
For the full report click here
The TRUST project aims to:
EDUCATE young people about the violence and abuse perpetrated in relationships.
EXPOSE attitudes that condone and conceal domestic and sexual violence and challenge those attitudes with facts and an understanding of the consequences.
ENABLE young people to seek support and use the services available if they, or someone they know, is suffering from abuse.
Teachers who have participated in the TRUST project have had to say about it:
“The male students are more reflective about the use of violence. They think more about it and the female students are far more self-assured” (Teacher, July 2008)
“Girls are more aware of the issues. Some girls were already in an abusive relationship and were able to extricate themselves from them by the end of the project.” (Head of Drama, January 2008)
“The effect on the students involved was life changing.” (Teacher, January 2009)
Key findings of the evaluation were that:
90% of students felt that they had learnt something from the project
89% of the students reported that they had enjoyed taking part in the project
79% of teachers noted changes in most pupils
91% of teachers felt the changes noted in their students were positive
